Who writes ThePaintly
ThePaintly is written by Sophie Ulman. Sophie has spent more than a decade around paint — interior repaints, exterior siding, automotive and engine work, and the awkward jobs in between that nobody writes guides about. The site exists because most paint advice online is written by people who have never watched a coating fail in year two.
Our editorial standards
Every guide on this site follows the same rules:
- Claims are checked against the manufacturer. If a spec appears on this site — a PSI rating, a cure time, a coverage figure — it came from the manufacturer’s own data sheet, not from another blog.
- Products are recommended by fit, not by commission. Where a product is sold only outside Amazon, we say so rather than substituting something that pays us.
- Failure modes are stated plainly. A coating that peels off vinyl in one season is more useful to know about than a coating that works, and we lead with that.
- Pages get corrected. When a claim turns out to be wrong, the page is edited and the correction stands — we do not quietly delete.

Corrections
Found something wrong? Tell us and it gets fixed. Accuracy on a paint spec is the difference between a finish that lasts and a weekend spent sanding it back off.
